DFRobot Arduino Review in a Nut Shell

Introduction

We chose to review the DF Robot Arduino line of components because after doing research on which Arduino manufacturer had the most available components and offered the best support we realized that DF Robot is a great candidate.

DF Robot has a great line of sensors, shields and controllers. They range from the Lilypad and Nano to Mega Controllers. They are all readily available and simple to plug in.

Aside from chosing DF Robot we decided to go with the Arduino line of controllers and components simply because of the large following on the internet. The open source community has contributed significantly to the Arduino effort ultimately making it a great product.Furthermore, we quickly realized how many people were utilizing these controllers and realized no other review existed. Hence here we are!

Purpose

There were many purposes for this review. One of the things we aimed to achieve is that we wanted to go with a modular approach. In our previous review of the Traxster II we realized that a robot developer either hardware or software would have to to be able to swap out parts and work in a modular fashion. We have all seen far too many times how projects are so custom and task specific that they cannot be used in other projects. Our aim outside of reviewing the actual Arduino line of components was to approach it such that we can swap out any of these components on the fly and continue to work. Furthermore, reduce our limitations and open up our options to scalability.

Work in progress... More to come
