Introduction

Thie review is about the OLLO Inventor & Expansion robot kit from Robotis. We first approached Robotis about some of their products and found OLLO to be a great start. We have broken this out into various parts. Part one is this review - yet another part is a set of videos showing how to build on of their projects.

Ok lets gets started!

Overview

For those of you that have little to no knowledge of electronics and programming this is the kit for you. Its a great kit to get you going. Some ask whats the difference between this kit and the Lego Mindstorms kit. Put simply - this kit lets you go wild with building. The pieces are designed in a way that allow you to create just about anything your mind can come up with with little limitations. Lego Mindstorms is a great kit as well but the parts are sometimes limiting.

However, this kit is not for the faint of heart. It does require more thought than Lego Mindstorms in terms of putting things together. One of the things we liked about this kit over the Lego Mindstorms is that you are actually programming. Its not a visual programming environment its CODE. So be ready - you will learn a lot with OLLO.

Support

Support is great with Robotis. Everything is available online on their website. However, we didn't need to use anything on their website. The manuals / workbooks included with the kit were more than enough for us to get started with little effort.
